In the lake of the same name you can admire coral reefs, colorful fish and several species that inhabit it. There is also a botanical garden that is home to hundreds of birds and has the Yucatan peninsula largest curtain of bamboo, with more than 60 varieties of palms and wild orchids.<br\/>Cozumel offers archaeological ruins right in the center of the island. In the ruins of San Gervasio is the temple of the goddess Ixchel. Small boats are the preferred transport to get here, although it is possible by ground transportation.
